Word to the wise: minimalists look away. So, there is just something wonderful about combining functionalism and design. Case in point: Open Shelving. Now I know there is potential to lean towards the cluttered, or gasp, unorganized look, however, if done right, you can make your plates & platters an abundant work of art. In my household, I combine my heirloom china, thrift store finds and college collections to create an aesthetictic feast for guests. The contrast of color and textures creates a dramatic back-scape and makes me yearn for the day when I too have these fabulous open spaces in my own home.
