I die once more: David Cafiero Select.

His design practice Grey Gardens, his event planning, and his shop are all facets of his unique, cosmopolitan sensibility and a lifetime of travel and collecting from Paris to Australia to the Bahamas. While there is no “typical” Cafiero interior—he excels at helping each client express his or her personality and vision—he is fearless and exact at blending disparate elements. A Cafiero room could easily and seamlessly include sculptural brass tusks against walls covered in sisal grasscloth, a James Mont sofa done in emerald-green mohair, and an antique Baluch prayer rug. From the selection of a wall finish or floral arrangement to choosing which wine to pair with pan-roasted trout, he is as precise as he is adventurous.

amazeballs.

ok, now we are the first to admit that life in moderation is essential. but c'mon. how can you say no to these things. oreo's AND choco-chip cookies, in a perfect marriage of delishiouness.

down in the dumps, make these. trying to make new friends at work, make these. wake up in the morning, make these.

Oreo Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookies
Makes 24 gigantic cookies
Prep: 25 minutes
Cook: 13 minutes

Ingredients
• 1 cup (2 sticks) softened butter
• 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 2 large eggs
• 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
• 3 1/2 cups flour
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
• 1 package Double Stuff Oreo cookies

Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together with a mixer until well combined. Beat in eggs and vanilla.

In medium bowl mix the flour, salt, and baking soda. Slowly add to wet ingredients along with chocolate chips until just combined.

With a cookie scoop, form balls with the dough.

Place one ball on top of an Oreo cookie, and another ball on the bottom. Seal edges together by pressing and cupping in hand until Oreo cookie is fully enclosed with dough.

Place onto parchment or silpat lined baking sheets and bake cookies for approximately 13 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool for 5 minutes before transferring to cooling rack.

DIY: procure a lovely framed piece of art at a yard sale or antique market (keep in mind,  you're buying for the frame, not for the actual artwork). spray paint frame to desired finish. let dry. seriously, i know it's tempting, but let it dry. apply three coats of chalkboard paint (which can be picked up at any old hardware store). enjoy. to be used for quaint directions, a lovely menu display, really any occasion will be a perfect occasion for this gem.

or, as always, support the pros, head over here, to etsy and snag one sans all that work.

stack-it.

1. Invest in quality bookcases, especially if current ones are sagging.

2. Pull spines forward to the same line (a few centimeters away from the front edge of the shelf).

3. Avoid "decorating" the bookshelves with lots of little knickknacks. They will look cluttered.

4. Keep the heaviest books on the bottom shelf and other heavy ones on nonadjustable shelves. Heavy books are safer close to the ground, and having them there creates a more balanced look.

5. Adjust shelves to accommodate the height of the books. Bookshelves look better without too much "headroom" above books. Conversely, don't stack books (or anything else) on top of a row of books, as this makes a bookshelf look cluttered.

6. Leave a little free space on each shelf so that books aren't packed too tightly, but not so much that they lean.

7. As an economical alternative to built-ins, line a wall with several identical bookshelves painted to match the walls.

Quick Tip: Reach for the Heights
Lining a wall with shelves subtracts as little as fifteen inches from a room yet creates yards of storage for books and other possessions.
