it happens neutral-ly

so, i'm pretty obsessed with this design company called consort design out of LA. everything about the way they style their rooms, the accessories they utilize, the mix of comfort and stand out interiors-it all just works. take a peek at some of the more muted rooms they've designed and dream with me about making them your own! check um out here. enjoy my friends, and happy freaking friday.

earthy.

so. i'm not super great at gardening. or keeping things alive. i once watered an silk plant for two weeks before i realized it wasn't real. yeah, so that's me. BUTTTTTTT. it doesn't mean that i dont WANT to be a good gardener. in fact, it's one of my top priorities. i yearn to make a salad, or salsa, or meal comprised of only things i've grown in my backyard. and honestly, i have no excuse not to be better at it. so this is it. this, this is the year. i will conquer my fear of bees, my general malaise, and get out there.

but i mean first, i probably need to buy all these sweet accessories. i mean, a painter doesn't show up without their paint and canvas, a sculptor without his clay and tools, a welder, well, whatever they use to weld with. you get my drift. as soon as i'm fully equipped, it's on.

you and me, colorado, we're gonna grow something together.

my sweet first home:

you guys.

i'm selling my first home. i bought this house about 2.5 years ago after falling in deep, deep love with it. it's a tiny little bungalow in the heart of a happenin hood, and i hope whoever buys it will be as absolutely happy in it as i was.

now don't get me wrong-the construction-on both sides-was not fun. but when i think about where i was when i bought it, and where i am now, it was all so worth it. i found independence there, i found my life partner there, i overcame so many personal and professional challenges there, and i've come out the other side with so many treasures and know-how.

while it's not the way i lived in it...check out a few snaps of the little love shack all staged and ready for selling.

i can still remember the very first time i walked into this house-it was on the market and i COULD NOT believe that it hadn't been swooped up yet. i immediately put in an offer and on my birthday, three years ago, it was mine! i learned what a sump pump was in this house (for better or worse), i repainted every square inch of this house, i even had my wedding reception in this house. it means alot to me. and one day, i can't wait to drive our kiddos by this house and tell them all the wonderful stories about a love that blossomed here.

well, today, i'm feeling rather green with envy (if you couldn't tell on your own...) maybe it's this warm and sunny day in beautiful colorado, or because i have a fun, fun, fun weekend in store and can't wait to get it started.

my motto: everyday that isn't friday, is monday. well dear ones, today is officially FRIDAY, and i'm ready for it. i hope you're weekend is spent as wonderfully as mine-with friends, loved ones, and sweet treats for all!

here's until monday...

we'll all float on...

one of our favorite things about the house we own, are the exposed brick walls-they cover one side of the entire home and are always one of the first thing people notice when they visit. i don't know if it's the unfinished, yet finished look they project, or the history they've seen. but whatever it is that attracts me to them is moot. all i know, is that i'd hate to cover them up.

and yet, the problem remains-what to do with all the stuff we have? i've ammassed a huge collection of books over the years. and few things bother me more than throwing them away. i am one of those weirdos that reads, and re-reads old books all the time.

the answer: floating shelves. it's so easy, and so lovely, and so, well, just, go get them. you'll never look back...

happy tuesday dear ones.

small spaces.

despite the wise words from marie kondo, i have a hard time getting rid of things. whether it's because i have sentimental attachments around the countless knick-knacks i refuse to part with, or simply because i'm a borderline hoarder, i have a ton of items with no real designated home of their own.

while i'd love to have a house large enough to properly display these treasures, the truth is that i spend countless hours trying to stuff and hide things in the worst way. i envy those who are able to have just one "junk drawer". in our house, all drawers are "junk drawers". and so, today's post is an ode to those who are able to accomplish the art that is: small space solutions...

whether your space is grand or petite, wouldn't it be dreamy to live like this? have a weekend as wonderful as you are.

diy.every.day.

i'm rather obsessed with do-it-yourself crafts as you might've gathered by this point. i recently popped into my favorite local fabric shop in denver, fancy tiger, and decided to take a stab at making bloomers for some of the sweetest little peanuts that made their way into the world this year. miss zadie jane, ophelia, and the newest love of mine, miss elizabeth dawson.

to my delight, i stumbled upon the most fabulous designs while perusing for patterns, and i'm more than excited to get started. check out these terrific little creations... they remind me of drool worthy wallpaper patterns-and with that, you've got me hooked. wallpaper and baby bloomers-why wouldn't i?

so go on dear ones. do something creative everyday-why not start today? loves.

(ps-head here to swoop up some of these adorable duds for yourself)

loveeee.

so, it's been quite the busy year for us. as you might've gathered from my blogging hiatus-apologies-it in no way means fun things haven't been happening that i need to share! as is to be expected at this age, all, yes, all of my most lovely girlfriends have been tying the knot. while it can be a little exhausting, what with all the pre-wedding events to plan and attend, it's all worth it when you see two people, who are meant to be together, take that huge step into foreverville...

one of our favorite weddings from the past year, was that of phil and maisie. one of my dearest friends, she met her match in the one-and-only p. piotrowski and the wedding was as beautiful as they are. they decided to make a mad dash to the mountains, giving guests only about five weeks to prepare. and us girls, as we often do, put on quite a show.

i was tasked with transforming the mountain chalet they rented into a proper wedding dreamland and with a $500 budget, and less than a month to get it done, it was a real challenge. the hardest part was keeping in mind that the home didn't belong to us, and so the install and tear down had to be exceedingly kind so as not to damage any of the property owner's belongings. i was thrilled with the final product-so much in fact, that i forgot to take any pictures of the space. luckily for me, i had some dutiful guest that were kind enough to capture some of the details that made the day sparkle.

event rentals are few and far between in crested butte, co as you might imagine. mais was able to find and rent simple folding tables and chairs and we cleared out the living room to create a reception venue. cream linens were draped over the tables and covered with chevron paper runners, mis-matched dinner plates, dreamy green garlands, and gold, gold, gold. i spray-painted the silverware and made mason jar glasses that doubled as favors. the sweet couple wrote hand written notes to each guest and that served as their escort card. perfect, thoughtful, and a casual-just like the couple.

given the locale, time allowance, and budget, all the girls rolled up their sleeves and served dinner family style. using different plates allowed us to add a little fun to the settings-it was the kind of decor that matched nothing, and went with everything. because i tried to use inexpensive items and class them up a bit (all the votive holders and glass vases were glass candles i had salvaged and spray painted) we were able to throw everything away, move the tables quickly, and have ample room for the dance party that commenced later.

it just goes to show that with a little creativity, a lot of help from tall men who were willing to spend their day fluffing and hanging paper poms, that you can create a lovely and intimate event on a few bucks, and a lot of love. cheers to the sweet couple-may they be as happy in life as they were on this perfect fall day.
