loves: black&white.

a few b&w tips from better home and gardens- a KD loves. see more how-to's here

"Be sure to balance large, medium, and small scale patterns with a few touches of plain black and white fabrics. Architectural details and interesting shapes keep a black-and-white palette from being boring. Even an all-white or beige room can benefit from a few well-placed dollops of black and white. Checked and striped fabrics make perfect companion prints for larger-scaled florals or toiles. Plain black and white fabrics are punctuated by a few small patterned pillows in a room that could be duplicated easily. Look for ways to dress up black-and-white prints with details.Though plain black upholstery is a bit unusual, it can make an important statement in a room. A few black accessories show up in high contrast to the balance of the room in creamy white. Kitchens are generally filled with straight lines and cold-looking countertops, so the sumptuous ruffled shade is a welcome contrast. Coordinating fabrics are a nice edge detail to further emphasize the arched hem."

or just do what we do-create, re-create, play, dismiss and start again.

but, seriously.

ok, i know i've been away for a while. too long. that's life i guess. and during my time away, a renewed excitement to blogshare worthiness to all. and so we jump back in. i share with you my loves, an american cinema classic. truly.

yeah, yeah, yeah. despite being filmed in 1989, not a thing about the fashion of these five ladies lacks luster. i would be lying if i didn't admit the ensembles of the steel magnolias cast continues to inspire me. clean lines, a tailored fit, knowing what looks good on your shape-these things never go out of style. enjoy.

if you've seen the film, these obviously do the fabulous frocks little justice. so go. watch. enjoy. take notes. but, seriously.

day three. seriously?

day three. i'm over it. i have managed (barely to avoid cheating). seriously, no real food for three days. am i feel like i'm going to die. seriously. i am nauseated, tired, cranky, hungry. cleansed? if this is what it feels like to be clean, than yes, i feel cleansed. and to tell you the truth, i would rather be dirty and full. i lost approx two pounds, which is likely water weight. while i totally support others who want to try a cleanse, i now know, they are just not for me. i like food. i like coffee. and if i enjoy those two likes to extremes, i like yoga. and i'll just have to like it more.

conclusion: i'm done, so whatever. now i know. gimme food. like. now.

me on day two. i literally had to take a sleep aid so i wouldn't eat something. i just wanted to chew, just let a girl chew...

note: i signed up for (and paid for) five, yes FIVE days of the cleanse. will i ever learn? what does this mean? i'll be sipping on P.A.M and Spicy Lemonade for a few more days, and my friends will also be enjoying (dredding) the left-over green juices...

day two. ugh.

ok. really? why, oh why did I do this to myself? while the juices aren't that bad (except the dredded GREEN JUICE!!!) it was just a weird day for me. for starters, i visited the bathroom 12 times, felt exhausted and a little delirious. in its defense, this is my first cleanse, so i'm hoping today is better...

items to note: again, the green juice, not my favorite thing in the entire world. and the foundation cleanse requires three of them...

the website suggests an enema or colonic, but seriously, i highly doubt there is ANYTHING left in my system to flush out.

i also tried a workout yesterday--nothing too crazy. a core fusion class. i was wiped. out. seriously.

good news, i slept like a baby, i was out. and, i seemingly have a lot of energy. i am also just now on my first green of the day, so the rest of the afternoon is TBD.

as promised, i will keep you updated...loves.

the fridge. it is, indeed, my life these days.

the green juice. the powerhouse of the cleanse. my enemy.

note: i also wanted to let you all know that i'm down a pound, but that is likely because of the said 12 trips to the loo. my goal for the cleanse isn't weight loss, it is really to flush my system and really get into better eating/lifestyle habits, but, as they say on their site, a few pounds lost can be a happy side effect. i am way less bloated, feel leaner and more 'clear' than i have...more details to come.

blueprint...for what?

ok dolls. let's just say, i've been on a bit of a crazy-overload-bad-habit-bender for the last few months. finishing up the convention, traveling around the country, it's been bad. not only for my blog, but for my scale as well. and beyond a general dissatisfaction with my weight, i just felt super worn down. the worst part though-despite being so darn fatigued, i haven't been sleeping. and after a restless night spent internet shopping and perusing, i came across this. BluePrint Cleanse. check it out. there are three different cleanses to chose from. i've never done a cleanse before, always knew i didn't have near enough self-control to make it a day. but this plan, for whatever reason, reallllllyyyy apppealed to me. it's a bit pricey, but hey? if it accomplished even a third of what it promotes, i'll be a fully satisfied lady.

i'll be sharing the experience with you loves. and here's the first...

DAY ONE/DRINK ONE: ugh. green juice. i picked the foundation cleanse. I figured, why not just jump in? and for the first time in my life, i actually want to thank my mother for making me chug all those nasty, nasty juices she would make me at home. which, i gagged on every morning before school. with that said, that practice helped the juice go down like water. this, was the end result...

ingredients: romaine, celery, cucumber, kale, parsley, green apple, spinach and lemon. yeah, i mean, it's not a milkshake, but hey. it works. trust me. it's been an hour since it went it, and it's already worked. twice....

updates to follow.
